1lb navy, great northern, or other white beans
1 large onion, chopped
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup honey
2 cloves garlic
2 tbsp spicy or brown mustard
1 jalapeno or 1 tsp chili pepper
1 tsp salt
1. Soak beans for 6-8 hours.
2. Drain the beans and add them to a large pot with enough water to cover them by 1 inch. Simmer on low heat for 45 minutes. 
3. Set the oven or grill to 325 deg F. In the same bean pot (for grill) or a casserole dish (for oven), mix the cooking water, beans, onion, molasses, honey, garlic, mustard, jalapeno or chili pepper, and salt. Jalapeno can be chopped or whole.
4. Bake for about 2 hours, checking every 30 minutes, until beans are at desired consistency.
For the best taste, refrigerate overnight! Serve hot or cold.
For variations, add 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce, cook beans in chicken or vegetable broth, or cook with slightly fried, chopped bacon.
